School girl!

Our little girl is officially registered for junior kindergarten.  I can’t believe it!

James and I have been debating for a couple of years which school to register Annika in.  Our final decision was the perfect one, the school that I have been hoping we’d agree upon, St. Ignatius.  There are so many things that led us to this school.  One being that we can see the front door of the school from our front door.  Annika will never have to ride a bus to school, and we can walk her to and from school every day.  The principal is unlike any principal I have ever known.  He is a hands-on principal that the kids really respect.

James and I are not catholic, and this is the major reason we were debating this so much.   We looked at all the pros and cons, and got feedback from friends and family.  I love our decision!

Last but not least, last year Prime Minister Harper visited St. Ignatius!  It has to be a special school if the Prime Minister picks this one to visit!stiggys

Winterlicous!

Girls night in Niagara and a few inches of snow for Annika certainly makes for a great weekend!

Steph, Becca, Vicki, Corinne and I headed to Niagara for the night on Friday.  We stayed at the Embassy, ate at the Keg and partied at Dragonfly Night Club, with a short pit-stop at the casino.  Awesome, awesome time with the girls, and an early birthday celebration for my bestie, Steph!

Today, Annika got to toboggan with daddy and make a “Frosty”.  She was so proud and very excited….so excited that she wanted to take Frosty’s head tobogganing with her.  Unfortunately, Frosty head shattered at the bottom of the hill, but Annika was able to retrieve part of it, and very proudly bring it home and keep it safe and sound on the front porch, with strict instruction that Mavie is not allowed to pee on it!

SOLD!

No, not our house……

My parents sold their house in less than 24 hours!  They signed the dotted line on an offer that was too good to be true - a few thousand MORE than what they listed their house for.  I’m soooo soooo soooo happy!  And getting very excited to have my parents move just around the corner.  Annika and Selena will get loads of nana and papa time very soon!

My parents move this year on James and I’s wedding anniversary, May 31.  Two months later on July 21, my brother gets married, and less than two months after that my parents will have a new puppy Open-mouthed smile  Lots to look forward to in 2012, I can’t wait!!!!

This is a pic of my parents’ condo, taken a couple days ago.  The framing started only two weeks ago, and look far they’ve come!

Big weekend!

The line-up for the weekend was looking like a record-breaker:  Annika was invited to two birthday parties, and we were going to have Grampy, Auntie Char and her boyfriend Rob and his three kids stay the weekend.  Unfortunately, our girls picked up the nasty cold going around this year - Selena’s worst cold to-date, and Annika is still fighting it.  Poor little thing might have to miss school this week, and she’s the Star of the Week this week…

Despite our sickies, we still attended one of the birthday parties on Friday (and sadly had to miss Mady’s 2nd birthday on Sunday), and had two short visits from Char and the gang.  Saturday marked the 8th year of Grammy Loaring’s passing.  We of course had our traditional Greek dinner for Elena, and this year with us all together!  We ended the weekend with the two (very exciting) football games; and fingers crossed Annika starts to feel better tomorrow….or to the doctor’s we go…

Looking very forward to my girls night in Niagara on Friday (my first time ever away from both the girls and James together) to celebrate my bestie’s birthday!  And then Super Bowl Sunday the following weekend!!

Fooooootball!

This is the time of year that I get right into the spirit of football.  Playoffs are the best.  Out of the four games this weekend, two were awesome, and the one and only game I got to fully watch ended up being probably the worst blowout I’d ever seen in the playoffs….I really like Denver,  but holy man, that was a bad game!

Excited for next weekend’s semi’s and then of course Super Bowl Sunday in a few weeks!!!!

James and I got to finally use our anniversary present (back in May).  My parents got us a gift card for Milestones, one of my favourite restaurants!  This was a much needed date night! ♥

Annika’s first skate!

Papa bought Annika her first pair of skates last week, and uncle David took her skating at the brand new City Hall rink!  She did great for her first shot, and really enjoyed it.  We just might have a future hockey star or figure skater on our hands! Winking smile

Recent email cuteness!

My dad sent this one to me….I actually laughed out loud at a few of these that I know Annika thinks of her nana and papa!!

(Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of their own..They like other people's.

A grandfather is a man, & a grandmother is a lady!

Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the colours of the flowers and also why we shouldn't step on 'cracks.'

They don't say, 'Hurry up.'

Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like 'Why isn't God married?' and 'How come dogs chase cats?'

When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend time with us.

They know we should have snack time before bed time, and they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we've acted bad.

A 6-YEAR-OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. ''OH,'' HE SAID, ''SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE WANT HER, WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE'RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.''

GRANDPA IS THE SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! HE TEACHES ME GOOD THINGS, BUT I DON'T GET TO SEE HIM ENOUGH TO GET AS SMART AS HIM!

It' funny when they bend over; they fart, and they blame their dog.!!!

6 Years!

Happy Six-Year Anniversary to my Jamsie ♥  Six years ago today we spent our first day together – doing what I love doing best the first day of the year…. absolutely NOTHING!  I remember lounging on the couch the whole day watching movies….never to imagine that we would be where we are right now six years later.

In six years we’ve bought and moved into two brand new homes, adopted a puppy, got married, and had two beautiful little girls.  That is one exciting six-year span!!

Looking so forward to what BJAMS has in store for the next six years!

How lucky can a girl get??!!
