I Love You
We did it!!!!!!!!!! Officially completed our temporary move into my parent’s basement apartment, thanks to the Hercules's hours and work James put in…and my brother’s and Karsten’s muscles on Saturday morning, we got the move done in great time! We have the keys to our townhouse until Sunday night at 11:59. I still can’t believe we’ll never able to step foot in that house again….it feels like I’ve never moved before….which I have, but I guess as a kid you don’t see the sentimental side of things as much. It does feel really great to know that our move is complete, we’re pretty much settled for now, Annika has transitioned amazingly well and now it’s just the waiting game.
The framing on our new house is almost complete. The roof is now on, and we’re just waiting for the staircase to go up so that we can sneak a peak at the upstairs! Will post pics soon.
James raced in Tobago this morning. He placed second behind Jason (forget his last name, but super fit triathlete). Apparently the conditions weren’t the best…there was a torrential downpour before the race start, flooding many of the roads, but the race organizers did their thing, and after a 2 hour delay, the race began. Hoping to post some pics when James is back.
Monday is James and I’s 2-year anniversary that we’ll be celebrating after his flight home at a restaurant somewhere in or around Toronto. I can’t say it enough….but time is flying ridiculously fast….
What another great weekend for BJAM! James had his annual “Guys day” on Saturday that always includes an “epic” mountain bike ride, a big feast for lunch and something low key in the afternoon to get ready for the craziness of the evening….I escaped the mayhem that got to our house in the afternoon and took Annika and Mavie to my parents to sleep in piece :) Rob Currie and I had lots of fun in the morning with Annika and his nephew Hayden. Annika loved Hayden’s company and couldn’t have been more content being right next to him the entire day.
Daddy wasn’t impressed with Annika’s flirty behaviour :)
Annika’s new buddy
Sunday was Steph’s Baby Shower and it went very well! Jamie got a lot of super cute new outfits and lots of great newborn essentials. Less than two months now until we get to meet the little guy, I can’t wait!!!
David (my bro) had an awesome race at the Disney Half Ironman on Sunday. He placed 10th out of a tough pro field, and is super happy with his result. He averaged 42km on the bike and had a solid run afterward despite the high humidity. My parents were there cheering him on and I was receiving minute-by-minute updates on the phone :) I’m really looking forward to the race season this year. James has a few “interesting” races that he’s considering, which will make for a fun summer!
Only a few days left until we’re out….it’s bitter sweet to be honest….this was James and I’s first house together :( But we’re moving on to bigger and better things. I couldn’t be more happy with life right now. It sure does feel great to work so hard to get what you’ve always wanted. I would have never have thought that I would have the house of my dreams, the family of my dreams and the life of my dreams by the age of 27!
So, the calm before the storm is what’s happening at this moment….this weekend will be the busiest weekend of the year, if not of my life…It’s so great to have my parents around the corner. I have no idea how I would get through a moving weekend with a baby and dog without their help! The organization of everything is going to be more of a stress than the packing, as we have to store most of our stuff for three months, so I have to think three months ahead and figure out what we need!!! Wish us luck :D
I’ll be posting again when the “storm” is over to let you know how relieved I am that it’s all over….at least for the next three months!
A Newborn's Conversation with God
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow,
but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said, You will simply call her, " Mom ."
I love being a mom…. there is nothing more rewarding in this whole world than waking up to my beautiful girl’s smiling face every morning. I love you Annika and Maverick!! Mommy is a lucky, lucky girl.
This is what I woke up to this morning : ) Breakfast in bed from James and a big picture card from Annika, oh and a clean kitchen too!
What an awesome weekend we’ve had! Our very good friends Miro and Coleen came for a weekend visit. Miro officially became a licensed pilot last year, and is currently in the process of upgrading and is considering the possibility of becoming a commercial pilot in the future. He comes this way to get his training hours in at the Kitchener/Waterloo International Airport. He got some flying in Friday but unfortunately was not so lucky Saturday with a storm that came through. While Miro spent his time at the airport doing paperwork on Saturday, Coleen and I went up to Listowel to the all-famous Listowel yarn outlet “Spinrite”. We got some great deals on a bunch of yarn, so I think we’re set for awhile; but I intend on going back up there when they have their annual tent sale to stock up for the next five years! I have Coleen to thank for getting me hooked to the crocheting world…I always pictured it as a grandma thing, but it’s totally not! It’s something to do in your spare time that is relaxing, and as tedious as some think it may be, it’s so rewarding when you have a finished product!
On the way back from Listowel, while getting a little lost in Mennonite country, we found our way to St. Jacob’s Market. I forgot how amazing this market is, and I plan, now, to try to make a monthly trip there. It’s not a good idea to go there hungry!
We got back, relaxed for the afternoon (Coleen did some last minute studying for her Pharmacy School interview, which she has today. She has about a 50% chance of being accepted…I know she’ll get it!), then went to Moxie’s for dinner and rented Sherlock Holmes. It was Annika’s bedtime when we got home, and Miro got some diaper changing practice in!
Today, when James gets back from coaching at the OAT Training day, we’re gonna spend the afternoon outside with Annika and Mavie, if the rain holds out. Love this warm spring weather we’re getting!
So that sums up the weekend in a nutshell. I love weekends like this! No work, no schedule, no stress, just leisure and relaxation!
Can’t believe May is here already….it’s a busy busy month ahead.…Brennan’s birthday party, Steph’s baby shower, race for James in Tobago, and our big move/storage, plus our 2nd Year Anniversary!
