The real meaning of words

A true description of words and their meaning.

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass....

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Be kinder than necessary,

Because everyone you meet

Is fighting some kind of battle.

2010 has become the year of LOVE and BABIES!!

Earth Hour

Yesterday marked the second year of my participation in Earth Hour.  I think it’s a really great concept and is something that I look forward to and find quite fun. Knowing that many countries around the world participate and help bring knowledge to millions about global climate change is such a great thing.  Not only that, but sitting in the darkness with no electronics, computers, TVs, video games or even phones brings families, friends, neighbours, countries and nations together for that one hour to do nothing but be together to support one thing - Planet Earth.

“Lights went out at one of the best lit places on Planet Earth – the welcome sign and strip at Las Vegas, Nevada.  At least 45 other landmarks – from the Empire State building to the Golden Gate bridge – also marked the occasion.  They included the Art Deco masterpiece of the Chrysler Building in New York along with the United Nations building.”

“For one hour a section of the border between Canada and the US was visually and symbolically removed, as a jointly coordinated switch off saw the iconic Niagara Falls disappear in the night.”

“In nearby Toronto, the CN Tower, the world’s tallest free-standing structure, again dimmed its lights for Earth Hour, in yet another almighty display of landmark action on climate change that has circumnavigated the world.”

Almost homebound

James is currently on the long journey home.  He left early this morning and is hoping to get in late tonight.  Annika and I have less than a week until we’re on our way home!

As nice it has been to be down here in Florida, I’m looking forward to being home.  To James’ slight dismay, I’m not a big traveller….I’m just as happy to stay at home…spend the money that would have been spent on a trip to buy some nice home decor or baby things.  I was able to last 5 weeks down here because I had my whole family with me….but am still antsy to get home.

It won’t be too long now until our move!  Our second year anniversary marks our move-out date into my parent’s basement apartment for three months, then into our new home!  Will soon post some pics of the progress since we’ve been gone.  I’m sure some of the framework will be up by now.

Some pics from the last few weeks….

Annika’s twin

We have all heard that everyone has a twin somewhere in the world….well I think Annika may have found hers.

On a walk a few days ago we met a little girl who is vacationing with her family, just like Annika.  The typical question, of course, that I always ask “how old is your baby?”, was answered with “17 months”.  What day in October was the next question, and when the reply was “October 7th” we couldn’t believe it!  Not only do they share the same birthday, but they have a striking resemblance to each other as well.

Annika was not impressed with having her picture taken.

Sarah then gave her a huge….

And Annika felt better
